Constitution

Florida Blockwatch (FBW) has been established in 2012, under the patronage of the South African Police Services (SAPS), as an independent sub-structure of a network called Florida Community Policing Forum, to assist the Community Policing Forum (CPF). However, FBW gradually transitioned, and is currently fulfilling additional roles that are not captured in the nine purpose statements in section 4 of the existing (2016) constitution. It is therefore deemed necessary to amend the existing. constitution.

‘Watch’ means to keep guard, to be vigilant, alertly on the lookout, attentive to what is done or happens, to tend, and to oversee. It is further deemed necessary to exercise the Constitutional right of freedom of association of members, by registering as a non-profit [residents/community] organisation (NPO).

The Constitution, as approved Tuesday 18 June 2024, is below. The signed (2 July 2024 by the Executive Committee) version would be made available on request to technical@floridablockwatch.co.za
